This inert reusable grow medium could be a game ch

This inert reusable grow medium could be a game changer. Replacing conventional soil and grow mediums, offering a stable medium for healthy root growth, and desirable water and nutrient retention. It can be used 70+ times before needing to be replaced, providing significant savings and lowering the cost to grow microgreens commercially.

Pros: No soil saving lots of time, money, and mess. Inert, allowing total control of plant nutrients. With a little experience, set up, harvest, and preparing for the next run is relatively painless.

Cons: Steep learning curve for achieving good germination, and growth, and preventing contamination. Not as hearty a yield compared to soil. Only works well with certain varieties. Difficult to clean for certain varieties.

Conclusion: Excited to get more experience with this, could be a game changer for decreasing running cost, and may work very well for certain varieties (I’m thinking brassicas). Stay tuned 🌱

This is Red Garnet Amaranth on Day 1 being introduced to light. This was seeded at 11 g/tray, up from 8 last time. Spent 2 days in germination and 1 night in blackout.

This microgreen is sought after for its super high protein content and incredible ruby red color!

Tip: RGA cannot handle weighted germination, just a tray resting on top is all it likes. To avoid spaghetti syndrome, only germinate for 2 days.
